CSA - Fresh Food Boxes

Farm Market Share  - $1,200
equals a $2,500 food value

Supporting the construction of our farm in Lewisburg, Tennessee for 2020.
The Average CSA- Community Supported Agriculture charges about $55-60 per box for 1/2 the amount of fruits and vegetables with no meat, fish, shellfish or microgreens.
Our members get 24 or 30 Boxes over the season (depending on type of share) of Fruits, Herbs, Microgreens and Vegetables  plus exotic items like, Non- GMO sweetcorn, purple corn, Schezuan buttons, Rosella, edible flowers, cut flowers, Gogi berries, Tilapia and Shrimp. Very rare indeed.
Vegetarian Box of Food Weekly - Feeds a Family of 4-5 for one week - Delivery Starting  July 2019
Aquaculture Box of fish and/or shrimp - Delivery Starting December 2019
See next page for details
THE WAY IT WORKS
  • The member puts $1200 on account at the beginning of the season. (You may split the payment if necessary)
  • You purchase a “share” and become a farm “community member.”  You then receive a box of vegetables or other farm products regularly throughout the growing season. ... However, our CSA is much more than just a weekly delivery of food.
  • With our CSA membership, people are not just buying produce: they’re making a commitment to support a farm, farmer, and farm family.
  • Members receive an e-mail weekly, updating the members of availability of crops.
  • Members receive a weekly box Vegetables and Microgreens of their choice that will feed 2-3 people.
  • Many benefits of our CSA membership cannot be quantified but rest assured, special gifts and samples products are an exciting addition added to every box.
  • Our CSA members also are able to take advantage of special offers that only become available to a bulk buyers.
  • Fruits and vegetables that are unique, seasonally abundant (like berries), or appealing to a limited number of people (like hot peppers), are offered separately.
  • Other Member extras include a variety of  classes, an annual dinner on the farm , and "you-pick days"; whether you take advantage of them or not, many fun programs will be offered throughout the year.
  • Many of our CSA Members place a high value on convenient neighborhood delivery sites where they can  pick up their produce.
  • CSA Members also look forward to the weekly updates and monthly newsletters describing life on the farm and providing vegetable recipes and information.
  • Our CSA produce is fresher and better tasting than what can be found in supermarkets.
  • CSA members directly influence the food supply and contribute to the local economy.
  • Members assume a portion of the risk of farming:  in good years there will be bounty. In bizarre weather years, the stone fruit supply may be limited.
  • Long-distance produce from the modern food delivery system tends to bypass local farmers and misleads consumers into believing all foods are naturally available throughout the year. At the supermarket in June (the peak season for peas in Wisconsin), you will find shrink-wrapped snow peas flown in from Costa Rica.  You may find tomatoes from Holland available at the grocery store through the summer.
  • Year-round availability of fresh produce is an important difference between CSA and the typical food shopping experience. However, once our closed poly- culture eco-systems are built, members will be able to enjoy food year round.
  •  Long-distance produce incurs hidden costs. Commercial fruits and vegetables are bred, grown, harvested, and packaged for long distance shipment and shelf life, not taste and nutritional value.
  • On a CSA farm, members share the full costs of food production and local, sustainable agriculture. The CSA movement aims to educate consumers that supermarket prices do not reflect the real costs of our industrial agricultural system. These costs include packaging waste disposal, soil erosion and groundwater contamination, pollution caused by long-distance transport, and fair farm labor wages.
